Our Benefits Package Includes:

Medical

We offer a consumer driven medical plan with coverage levels designed to meet the diverse needs of our workforce. This plan offers employees control over the healthcare they receive. We currently work with United Healthcare to administer our health insurance plan.

Dental

Dental benefits are provided through Delta Dental® with no provider restrictions. Coverage level is based on services provided. In addition, discounted services are provided through a preferred network of dental providers.

Vision

We offer a vision program through EyeMed®. The plan provides savings on eye-care needs, including eye exams, frames, lenses and contacts. 

Short-Term Disability & Long-term Disability Insurance

We provide short-term disability benefits upon completion of six months of service if an employee becomes disabled and unable to work. Long-term disability benefits are provided from the first day of employment. LTD benefits cover disability after short-term disability benefits have been exhausted. 

Life Insurance

Basic life insurance is provided to all full time employees at no cost. The option to purchase additional personal life insurance and dependent life insurance is also available.

Wellness Programs

  • Tobacco Cessation Program – offers specific tools for our employees to assist them in becoming tobacco free.
  • Know Your Numbers Health Screenings – a wellness program designed to make our employees more aware of their health status.
  • Cancer Resources – provides resources to answer employees’ questions along with finding quality providers to help understand employee benefits.
  • Health Advocate Program – a personal advocate to help resolve health care issues, from claims and provider billing issues to condition education and provider scheduling resources.

AFGreatHealth Challenge

The AFGreatHealth Challenge is a company-sponsored wellness initiative that challenges employees to participate in free health screenings, along with walking and weight management programs with the overall goal to improve their health. As part of the challenge, we offer a variety of incentives which have included the chance to win a car, a $10,000 shopping spree, a trip of a lifetime and many other great prizes!

Retirement & Savings

Great American’s employees have several options in planning and saving for their future via retirement accounts. Our plan consists of two components: a 401(k) program and a Retirement Account.

401(k) Plan

Our 401(k) plan helps employees supplement their retirement savings. Employees may contribute a percentage of their eligible earnings on a pre-tax basis. The company will match a percentage of before-tax contributions with each pay period. Eligible employees may participate immediately upon hire. There is no waiting period to participate in the 401(k) savings and matching accounts.

Retirement Account

The Retirement Account is 100% funded by the Company. This discretionary contribution is allocated to each eligible employee’s Retirement Account based on the performance of the Company each year. Eligibility in the program is based on date of hire.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

Our stock purchase plan provides employees the ability to purchase AFG stock at a discounted rate through payroll deduction.

Individual Retirement Annuity – Flexible Premium Annuity

Employees have additional opportunities to save for retirement through these annuity products.

Employee Discount Program

AFG offers many special Employee Discount programs to employees. These programs include discounts on cars, computers, wireless programs, entertainment and more! You can save money by being a Great American Employee.

Tuition Reimbursement

All full-time employees of Great American are eligible to participate in the tuition reimbursement program. The company believes in providing opportunities for employees to continue their education and to expand their knowledge to be more effective in their jobs. Our tuition program focuses on both undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Educational Incentive Award

Not only does Great American reimburse employees furthering their education, we also provide incentives for completing education and selected courses. It is just our way of supporting and reinforcing how important education is to our organization. Incentive awards are given upon successful completion of a business degreed program and insurance designation courses.​
