A Great Place to Work
What makes Great American a great place to work?
The People
We acknowledge that diversity is all about people and the various backgrounds, values and perspectives they bring to enrich the workplace. We believe such enrichment provides continual opportunities to learn and leads to a positive exchange of ideas for the betterment of all. We encourage a company culture where ideas are welcomed and freely shared at all levels.
The Perks
Great American employees know how to have fun outside of work. The Company’s annual Christmas Party in Cincinnati always brings out the festive spirit in everyone with dinner, dancing, and an impressive list of entertainers over the years. Employees also enjoy a “Great American Day” to cheer on the Cincinnati Reds with their family, friends and co-workers at the Great American Ball Park.
The Philanthropy
Great American has a philosophy of “caring, sharing and serving” within the communities where we live and work. We support organizations that serve our community, particularly those that provide education to under-served populations, improve health and welfare, serve the needs of children, enrich lives through art and culture and provide domestic disaster relief services.
Great American and its parent company, American Financial Group, Inc. (“AFG”) support many community service organizations, including the American Red Cross “Ready When the Time Comes” disaster response program, the American Heart Association, the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, United Way of Greater Cincinnati and the Fine Arts Fund of Greater Cincinnati.
The Premier Headquarters
Since 1974, Great American Insurance has demonstrated its commitment to the Cincinnati business community by locating its corporate headquarters downtown. In 2007, we continued this commitment through signing a contract to be the lead anchor tenant of a new downtown office tower - the Great American Insurance Group Tower at Queen City Square (“Tower”). Construction began in 2008 and our first group of employees moved into our new corporate headquarters in early 2011.
The Tower boasts of the following accolades:
Tallest building in the city skyline at 41 stories and 665 feet;
Largest “green” office tower, utilizing numerous environmentally responsible design choices, construction practices and development decisions with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification; and,
Topped with a 300 ton steel tiara modeled after the tiara worn by Princess Diana.
At the completion of the move in late 2011, over 2,000 employees will work in this signature building that adorns the Cincinnati skyline.
