Environmental In the Community: Protecting our Natural Resources

2018 Mystic River Herring Run and Paddle Event runners starting line

The 300 Runners lined up at the early start time of 8am on the cool Saturday morning for the 5K around the Mystic River in Somerville, MA.

On May 18, members of the Great American Environmental team took part in the 2018 Mystic River Herring Run and Paddle event. With over 300 participants this event sought to raise awareness and support for the Mystic River Watershed Association, a foundation founded in 1972 whose mission is to protect and restore the Mystic River, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations and to celebrate the value, importance and great beauty of these natural resources.

A great thanks to everyone at the Mystic River Watershed Association, the staff that worked tirelessly to set this up and all the volunteers who made this event possible, and we look forward to our next opportunity to give back to our communities.
