Specialty Programs

A specialty program is an insurance program that provides coverage for a niche class of business that is written on a guaranteed cost basis. These programs are often supported by a retail agent, Managing General Agent (MGA) or Managing General Underwriter (MGU), or program administrator.

Group Captives

A group captive is a member-owned reinsurance company that is formed by a group of insureds to assume the group’s risk. This type of program is typically managed by either a captive consultant or intermediary.

Agency Captives

An agency captive is an agency-owned reinsurance company that typically insures a niche portion of the agency’s overall book. In this type of program, the agency assumes risk on the book of business, and can earn profits and investment income.
