Employee Theft

An employee working as an administrative assistant at a library stole money over the course of six years. The employee had access to the library’s finances and added excess payments to their paychecks.

Computer Hacking

A computer hacker breaks into an insured’s computer and causes a check to be written on the insured’s bank account and mailed to him/herself. The individual then cashes the check.

Fraudulently Induced Transfers

A brewing company was subject to a social engineering cyberattack by a sophisticated third party that resulted in a wire transfer of the company’s funds totaling $2.1 million to a fraudulent third-party account. The incident involved creditor employee impersonation and fraudulent wire transfer requests by such third party.

Funds Transfer Fraud

A third-party gains access to a company’s bank credentials and directly sends fraudulent instructions to a company’s financial institution, purporting that the instructions came from the company - but where those instructions were transmitted without the company’s knowledge or consent.

Destruction of Data by Hacker

Money Orders and Counterfeit Currency

A customer buys expensive pairs of shoes from a shoe store and pays with a stolen money order which they forge a signature.
