Introducing GLIDER (General Liability Insurance + Dedicated Environmental Risk)

Great American Environmental Announces New Commercial General Liability and Environmental Protection Policy

Meet GLIDERSM: One Policy that Combines General Liability and Environmental Protection for Fixed-Site Risks.

The Environmental Division of Great American Insurance Group is pleased to announce the newest addition to its suite of environmental products. GLIDER (General Liability Insurance + Dedicated Environmental Risk), a single, integrated policy that unites ISO-based commercial general liability with site-specific pollution liability. Designed for sectors such as manufacturing, chemical processing, waste management, and more, GLIDER delivers coordinated protection for both traditional and environmental exposures—and it's developed by underwriters with deep expertise in pollution risks alongside GL coverage.

GLIDER combines ISO-based commercial general liability coverage with site-specific pollution liability protection, offering a comprehensive and flexible policy for a wide range of industries.

“Most combined GL/pollution offerings in the market are led by GL underwriters who may not have deep expertise in environmental risk,” said Eric McCabe, Divisional Senior Vice President and Director of Underwriting for Great American’s Environmental Division. “GLIDER is different. Our policy is crafted and underwritten by career pollution specialists who assess the full exposure profile—operations, products, premises, contracting operations, and transportation—so insureds get a cohesive, tailored product, not a bolt-on. That specialist view, paired with our in-house claims and risk engineering teams, is what makes GLIDER work in the real world.”

What Makes GLIDER Different

  • Specialist Underwriting First: Led by experienced pollution underwriters who evaluate environmental and casualty hazards together—resulting in a more accurate, exposure-aware structure and terms.
  • Flexible Core, Comprehensive When Needed: The core GLIDER form already provides substantial GL + site pollution protection. When your client’s risk profile warrants more, our pollution specialists can tailor the core form-via targeted endorsements, site schedules, and refined definitions-to deliver comprehensive site coverage, guided by the environmental information you provide or co-develop with us.
  • Easier Resolution for Fortuitous Events: Our in-house claims, risk engineering, and pollution underwriting teams operate as one unit, providing rapid triage, coordinated response, and clear communication. Vendor management, regulatory interactions, and documentation are streamlined, and incidents move to closure efficiently.
