Dear Producers,

It was five years ago, mid-March, that COVID-19 started changing our lives on a personal and professional level. In my opinion, a silver lining is that the non-mariner now has a better appreciation of the importance of maritime logistics in the global supply chain.

The shortage of toilet paper can have that effect, but Marine is now in the mainstream media more than ever. For example, the Ever Given blocking the Suez Canal, the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse caused by the MV Dali container ship and the ongoing Red Sea shipping crisis caused by the Houthi rebels. With tariff talks, I’m sure maritime will continue to be in the spotlight for the next four years. Our business matters, and we should all be proud to be part of it!

Personally, there are a few things from the COVID-19 years that I do miss, like family time and the lack of traffic, but professionally, the U.S. Ocean Marine market has fared well over the last five years. For the Great American Ocean Marine team, we grew ~ 10% to 88 team members and nearly doubled our GWP.

We thank YOU for your continued collaboration and trust in our underwriting and claims teams.

As always, thank you for your support of Great American and for all the great you do.

Michael
