Market Outlook: Signs of Stabilization and Improvement

As we move into the second half of the year, there are encouraging signs that the freight market is beginning to move in a more positive direction.  While freight demand has remained uneven, the broader market is showing meaningful improvement in supply-demand balance, driven largely by tightening capacity and disciplined fleet behavior. Industry research indicates that capacity contraction, including ongoing carrier exits and driver availability constraints, has begun to shift the market toward firmer rate conditions. At the same time, the trucking industry continues to serve as the backbone of the U.S. economy. According to the American Trucking Associations, trucks moved over 11.2 billion tons of freight in 2024, representing the majority of domestic freight movement. [trucking.org]. From an employment standpoint, the sector remains stable, with approximately 3 – 3.2 million truck drivers in the U.S. in 2026, reflecting steady labor demand despite prior market softness. While we are not yet seeing a full demand rebound, these indicators point to a more constructive and balanced market environment than what we experienced over the past 18–24 months.  For our agents and clients, this evolving environment presents opportunity:

  • More stable pricing conditions compared to the volatility of prior years
  • Improved carrier discipline, supporting long-term service reliability
  • A market that is increasingly positioned for gradual, sustainable growth

As always, our focus remains on delivering consistent claim service, underwriting discipline, and tailored solutions that support your business and your clients’ success. If there is anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to reach out!

Wishing you and your families and safe and enjoyable summer!
